Any coaches willing to help out?.....

Hi Coaches

Netball Kapiti are running a school holiday programme in the April school holidays.  Monday/Wednesday/Friday in the first week and Wednesday/Thursday/Friday in the second week.

We are seeking some volunteers to help run the programme with myself and Brigid.   We will be needing 3-4 volunteers/helpers each day.  If you are able to assist and practice some of your coaching skills then email me for details.

Kind regards
Carmell

COACHING clinic - Dennis Slade

Teaching games for understanding coaching course – Dennis Slade, Massey University

This unique course presents a game based teaching and coaching alternative to traditional methods of coaching sport at primary level.

slade-dennis-2009-01.jpgAbout Dennis Slade.
Dennis Slade is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education at Massey University. Dennis has published several books and numerous articles on Game-sense and TGfU (Teaching Games for Understanding) and currently provides practical Game-sense workshops for various sporting organisations e.g., Netball New Zealand. His TGfU inspired CD-ROM Stick2hockey was officially adopted and distributed to all FIH affiliated hockey playing countries in 2010 as their small-sided games approach to teaching hockey to novices.

Who should attend?
All coaches can benefit from this course.  Both new coaches, experienced coaches and those interested in coaching will benefit from learning how this approach can create a more positive first impression of sport than traditional skill based approaches.
What?
Understanding team formations, finding space and developing a wide external vision within game centred learning contexts
In this course the method of play practice will be employed to demonstrate teaching shape in games and to introduce coaches to tactical games that are fun and competitive and employ implicit learning concepts. In addition, issues of mandate coaching, mastery learning and individual goal setting will be discussed as a means of improving individual technique and making effective use of team practice time
When?
Sunday the 10th April 2016 from 10:00am to Midday
Where?
Waikanae School, Seddon Street, Waikanae (entrance off Hira Street)
Is there a cost?
$20 per person. Can be paid in cash on the day or internet banking details can be supplied on registration.
