COURTESY

Hi all,

I have had numerous coaches and managers inform me they are receiving text messages extremely early or late at night.

Please respect these volunteers and make contact at more reasonable times.

Thank you.

We are on duty this weekend...

Hi there everyone,

You may or may not have noticed on the netball draw that Waikanae School is on duty this weekend.

This means it is our turn to put all the pads on the netball posts and put the future fern hoops on the posts ready for the 8.30am round.

If you have an early game/junior session this weekend, I need some adults to help with our duty.  Sorry, but the children are just too little for the job.  Many hands make light work.

I'll be there from 8am just in case no-one shows to help however I'm hopeful this won't be the case :)

The pads are kept in the pavilion and have the sponsor names on them.  They need to be put on the correct sponsored court.

There are 10 courts and the Premier court to put pads on.

Thanks in advance!

Lovely feedback - Well done Nitro

Hi Principal of Waikanae School

My name is Joanne Nixon and i am the coach of Kapanui Steel, a year 5 team that played your lovely Nitro netball team on Saturday (a coldish very wet day)
I would like to say how impressed i was with the team..  They were a lovely bunch of girls, with just the right amount of smiles vs determination in the game to make for a very pleasurable match.
In particular, there was a lovely GA and i think ? WD in the 1st Half who clapped when the 1st goal was scored - by us!!!!!
I said to the girl from the sideline "that's lovely sportsman ship and received a lovely smile in return".
So well done Waikanae School Nitro - you have made your school proud.
I hope we get to play them again in round two.

Uniform Reminder

Hi all,

On Saturday I saw many non-regulation garments being worn while players were on the court.

Please make sure there are NO leggings of any colour worn.  A plain black long sleeve thermal top is the only under garment registered to be worn.

Future Ferns (Edge) are the only team who are able to wear leggings.

Thank you!

NO games this weekend...

Have a wonderful long weekend.
We'll see you back at the netball courts on Saturday June 6.

Junior Coach Workshop

Hi All

Please be advised that the Junior Coach Workshop that was scheduled for tonight at Te Atiawa Courts at 6.30 has been postponed to Wednesday 20th May at 6.30pm

We apologise for this inconvenience but due to the bad weather, road closures to SH1 and the weather system that is still to come in later today it could be near impossible for our Facilitator Stacey to get to us from Wellington tonight.  We are also concerned for her safety driving in and out of Wellington even if the road is open with the rain that is still to come.

Please can you urgently advise all Junior Coaches of this postponement.

Regards
Carmell

SPECTATORS at Netball Games :)

Hi there netball families!

With our season about to begin on Saturday, I believe now is the perfect time for some important reminders about Fair Play and being a supportive spectator at the netball courts.

SPECTATORS
The children really do appreciate all the positive cheers they can get!

·       *  Please stand well back from the side line so the umpire can move freely to control the game.
·       *  Please be tolerant of umpires. I am aware that the umpires are not always up to scratch and   may at times make decisions that you may not agree with HOWEVER they are doing the best they can. Without these umpires your child would not be able to play! So please, as parents, coaches and supporters lead by example.
·       *  Please remember that the coach instructs the team at the break times.
·       *  Please refrain from standing/leaning on the goal posts and shouting at the players.
·       *  Please do not shoot at goals when a game is taking place.
·       *  Please choose a spot to support your child and their team and stay there rather than pace up and down the side line.
·       *  Name calling and any other ‘negative’ outbursts are not acceptable and does not represent the fair play code Waikanae School tries hard to maintain.

We have a distinctive RED uniform and are easily identified.

Please note:  Children are to be supervised at the netball courts.  If you can’t be with your child, please arrange with another adult for supervision.

If you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Lucy Cameron

Netball starts THIS SATURDAY

Extreme, Electric, Impact, Flash, Blitz and Nitro - your first games are this coming Saturday.
It is a grading day to make sure you are in the right competition grade.
We still have a few teams who have NOT got umpires and this needs to be sorted asap.
I also need to distribute uniforms this week so please make sure your netball fees and uniform bond have been paid to the office.
Thanks!
